On June 28th, I foolishly bought a UVC membership and gave a $1000.00 down payment . I went to the hotel and did my research about UVC frauds and complaints and tried to cancel the next day.

I went to the UVC to tell them I had other payments and priorities etc.. They told me that I could not get my money back when the paper said that under Mexican law I had 5 days. They said I was misreading it and I was not going to get my money back regardless that it was the deal of my life that they could wait for me on the rest of the down payment money and I had time to change my mind. I was in Mexico for a while until I went back to the USA in August I tried to cancel for a while but no response.

They took 3 more payments. The representative Yulima Ledezma finally got ahold of me and told me that in fact I should have canceled within the 5 days. She apparently did not know I had tried and that her boss "Casper" had lied to me, for which I am really pissed off. They lied from the beginning to trap me and take my money which should not keep on happening to tourists.

Good thing that I recorded the whole conversation with my phone without them knowing.

They give you so much information that it is overwhelming and confusing at the moment and they say to you it is the deal of your life time and you only have that chance to get it. I want to pursuit a lawsuit to stop this from happening to others!

Usually when you purchase a timeshare membership you meet at least 3 people: the Sales Associate, the Sales Manager, and the Verification Officer (sometimes called Member Services Associate/Specialist). After you agree to purchase a timeshare, the contract document is prepared.

Then you are usually taken to a private office, where you meet the Verification Officer. He/She tells you the transaction is being video recorded. You sign or initial numerous documents, in front of the Verification Officer. It is the Verification Officer who you should have returned to when you decided to cancel your timeshare.

He/She is not associated with the Sales Staff, but works directly for the Developer.

At this late date, I recommend you contact PROFECO. PROFECO has the regulatory authority to direct Villa del Palmar to cancel your contract and return all payments. You will be responsible for returning the contract documents and any gifts provided over and above those gifts stated in the presentation invitation.

For example, sometimes the sales associate will provide more attractions or food vouchers, to persuade you to sign the contract. These "extra" gifts must be returned unused (or you will be charged for their value).

This is simply not true at Villa Del Palmar. There is no "private room." They do the whole thing right out in the main sales room with everyone present, the champagne popping, the fake hand clapping etc. There is no video recording.

That is correct, it was exactly as you described it and actually there is no verification officer either. No video recording, no private room.

There is the sales person, the manager and the " lawyer" none of them wanted to help me even though the clause said that if within 5 days you changed your mind you can get your money back.

Anyhow, the "offer" deals were also misleading and incorrect. I can't believe people keep living off of others.

Ditto. They do this out in a big "Fish bowl" type room, all glass, surrounded by tables of other victims. Why would they do this in private when they can use the fake drama of the clapping and champagne etc.

The problem is with returning to the VLO is that they have excuses as to why this person isn't present. "She sick today" "He's on lunch break" "I can't find him" "She's busy" etc.

You get the runaround and if you don't, they just take another run at trying to convince you not to rescind or worse, try to convince you to upgrade something that you haven't even used yet, because it will solve your problems. All you need to do is mail in our rescission letter.

I'm right there with you on the class action suit for misinformation and misguiding.
